LSCTA Dress Down Benefit for Hurricane Victims

Our first district wide "Dress Casual for a Cause Day" will be held on 9/15/17.  Please read below.

Hurricane Harvey has unleashed death and devastation in Texas and the storm's remnants dumped historic amounts of rainfall — 50 inches or more — on southeast Texas. As Harvey parked itself along the Gulf Coast, flooding reached catastrophic levels. At least 45 people have died and and 30,000 people are in need of shelter. First-responders rescued thousands while battling the rising water.

NYSUT members can show support for their union colleagues in Texas and other regions affected by Harvey by donating to the NYSUT Disaster Relief Fund. NYSUT will forward all donations to the national effort. We are coordinating with our national affiliates — the AFT and NEA — to make sure that our union brothers and sisters and affected communities receive whatever help and relief we can provide as they try to get back on their feet during the long recovery period ahead.
